Authorisations
Crédit Industriel et Commercial (CIC) is a credit institution licensed by the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de resolution (ACPR) - 4 place de Budapest CS 92459, 75436 Paris Cedex 09), supervised by the ACPR and the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF – 7 place de la Bourse, 75082 Paris Cedex 02) and under the prudential supervision of the European Central Bank (ECB – 60640 Frankfurt am Main, Germany).
In its capacity as Investment Service Provider, CIC is licensed to provide the following regulated services :
- Banking operations (the receipt of repayable funds from the public, credit operations and payment banking services)
- Reception and transmission of orders on behalf of third parties
- Order execution on behalf of third parties
- Proprietary trading
- Portfolio management on behalf of third parties
- Investment advisory services
- Underwriting
- Guaranteed and non-guaranteed placements
It is also authorised to provide services for custody account keepers and securities clearing houses. These authorisations can be viewed on the Banque de France’s financial agents register website (https://www.regafi.fr).
French deposit insurance and resolution fund (FGDR)
The purpose of the Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution (FGDR) is to protect and compensate clients if their bank, investment firm or finance company fails. The CIC is a member of and contributes to the FGDR under the following three guarantee mechanisms :
- Deposit guarantee
Deposit accounts (e.g. current accounts, savings accounts, CEL, PEL) are covered by the FGDR's Deposit Guarantee (excluding Livret A, LDD and LEP accounts, which are guaranteed by the State). - Securities guarantee
The FGDR covers securities and other financial instruments (shares, bonds, SICAVs, FCPs, etc.) on the dual condition that the securities are “declared unavailable” and that the account-holding institution is unable to return them. - Bank collateral scheme
Certain regulated professions (estate agents, travel agents, lawyers, etc.) take out compulsory insurance with a bank or finance company to guarantee the funds entrusted to them by their clients. In the event of bankruptcy of the banking or financial institution, the FGDR takes over and honours the latter’s commitment to their clients.
