Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale: our group’s commitments
A mission-driven company
Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, a mutual, ethical, socially responsible and community-minded bank, became the first mission-driven corporate bank in the second half of 2020 by defining five missions, which now form part of its corporate purpose, as well as that of its subsidiaries, including CIC.
True to its heritage, these five missions guide CIC CIB’s work in serving our customers and contributing to the common good :
-
We support our customers and members in their best interests
-
We act in the interests of everyone and reject all forms of discrimination
-
We put technology and innovation at the service of people
-
We contribute to regional development
-
We are working towards a fairer and more sustainable society
These commitments are assessed and verified by a mission committee comprising nine members with complementary areas of expertise : one-third experts, one-third directors and elected representatives, and one-third employee representatives.
Responsible policies
The Societal Dividend – a new stage in the mutualism of evidence
In response to the scale of the climate crisis and growing inequality, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale launched the Societal Dividend in January 2023 to build a more sustainable and inclusive world.
15%
Each year, 15% of its net income is therefore allocated to funding projects aimed at combating global warming and social inequality (2027 target : €2.5bn allocated | €622m were allocated in 2025, bringing the total to over €1.6bn since 2023).

Supporting societal and environmental transformation
Leading the ecological and societal revolution by supporting our customers’ ecological transformation and thereby contributing to the decarbonisation of the economy.
Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale generates greenhouse gas emissions throughout its value chain, through its own operations (direct and indirect emissions linked to the group’s operations1) and its financing and investment activities (financed emissions2).
Our objectives as the corporate and investment banking arm of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale:
- Reduce the carbon footprint of our balance sheet and our operations, in line with the Paris Agreement
- A 20% reduction in the carbon footprint of our balance sheet by 2027, and a 30% reduction by 2030 by further developing our sector-specific and investment policies, including, for example, a significant expansion of funding for renewable energy or ‘Green Mobility’ (the creation of a Green Mobility team within the Asset Finance team)
- The Institut Mutualiste pour l’Environnement et la Solidarité, the group’s centre of expertise in ESG matters.
- Supporting the green transition of all our customers and across all our business lines
Rolling out commercial offerings to support our customers in their decarbonisation efforts:- the creation of a Sustainable Finance Structuring team in 2021 to help our customers successfully complete financing projects by linking them to environmental, social or societal criteria
